Founded in 1956
For over 60 years, Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers (AUCP) has helped to enhance the quality of life and promote independence for individuals living with physical and mental disabilities throughout the region.
Expanding and Still Growing
Initially, the group worked closely with the national office of United Cerebral Palsy; advocating for children whose disabilities merely limited education and career possibilities. The group’s support to local school boards helped provide classes for disabled students.
Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers has grown greatly and expanded from the group’s original mission and vision. Through the years, excellence in development and implementation of programs has guided AUCP’s mission to provide more services and expand programming to individuals of any ability throughout a broad geographic region. Today, AUCP serves approximately 350 individuals in various programs assisting children, youth, adults, and seniors.
AUCP operates three (3) community living arrangements in Cambria County, permanently housing a total of 20 individuals with 24-hour care available. All residents are encouraged to take charge of their lives with as-needed assistance offered in the areas of: activities of daily living, decision making, financial management, and social and emotional growth. Most individuals attend day programs or sheltered workshops.
Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers currently operates with a budget in excess of 8 million dollars across a validated radius of 13 counties in southwestern and central Pennsylvania.
AUCP is constantly working to enhance its programs and involvement in the community.
