Direct Care Floater Employment

 

The Direct Care Floater is responsible for providing in-home personal care and assistance in daily living tasks according to the daily routine of individuals who are physically disabled, mentally alert or mentally challenged and performing clerical duties as needed.  You will have to cover consumers in a multi-county area.

 

Responsibilities:

Provides a full range of personal care services including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Transferring into and out of bed, wheelchair, and motor vehicle; lifting and turning consumers; occasional to moderate use of a Hoyer lift.
  • Personal care including: bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, feeding and clean up.
  • Perform basic procedures such as applying and changing dressings; applies preparations and treatments such as liniment or alcohol rubs.
  • Housekeeping which includes: laundry, dusting, vacuuming, etc. making sure that an adequate supply of clean clothing and linen is available for the consumer and that soiled items are removed and cleaned.
  • Mobility assistance that involves ambulation and travel outside the home, shopping, medical appointements, etc. (please note that employees may not drive consumers in vehicles).
  • Health maintenance according to a consumer's needs, which includes: bowel programs, catheter care (including straight catheter), ostomy care, skin breakdown, breathing treatments, administering oxygen, range of motion, and etc.

    Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • Have at least six (6) months Experience and/or training in providing personal care to individuals with a disability preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance due to making home visits requiring frequent local and occasional state-wide travel. The agency also requires a Motor Vehicle Record Check.
  • Excellent communication and orgainzational skills.
  • A winning attitutude, strong work ethics, sound judgement, and a high energy level.
  • In accordance with Federal and the state of Pennsylvania regulations governing facilities/agencies that offer care-dependent services, a facility/agency may not hire an applicant nor retain an employee required to submit a criminal history report if the criminal history report reveals a felony conviction under The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act or a conviction under any of the Pennsylvania Crime Codes. In addition, any felony offense under Chapter 39, of the Crime Code (relating to theft & related offenses), or two or more misdemeanors under Chapter 39 will prohibit hiring of the applicant or retaining the employee. Agency requires a Criminal Background Check (may require an FBI check as warranted) as well as a Child Abuse History Clearance at the time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
